JD Rose, affectionately known as “The Voice of the Texas Hill Country,” is a legendary radio broadcaster with more than four decades of experience in the industry. He began his radio career in 1981 as a 16-year-old working in production at KNAF-AM in Fredericksburg, Texas, quickly rising to News Director and then on-air personality with a loyal regional following. Over the years, JD became one of the pioneering forces behind the Texas/Red Dirt and Americana radio formats, dedicating full-time programming to Texas music at a time when few others did.

 

His innovative programming helped shape and mold today’s Americana and Texas Regional Radio charts. JD was one of only three program directors in the nation whose playlists were used to form the very first Texas, Americana, and Album Adult Alternative radio charts. In addition to his work as a program director and on-air host at stations like KFAN-FM and KRNH-FM, JD has produced numerous specialty shows and created community-focused radiothons that have raised millions for charitable causes. For over a decade, he has run his own online station, TexasRadio.Net, continuing his passion for Texas music, local sports coverage, and community storytelling. A multiple-time nominee for the Texas Radio Hall of Fame, JD Rose remains a central and respected voice in Texas broadcasting.
